Name Change Announcement:
Save Darfur Canada becomes The Darfur/Sudan Peace Network

On Tuesday, October 26th, 2009, Save Darfur Canada officially became The Darfur/Sudan Peace Network (or "the DSPN"). The primary reason for this change was to respond to changing realities on the ground in Darfur and in all of Sudan.

The situation in Darfur remains urgent, and continues to be an important focus of our work. At the same time, tensions are rising between North and South Sudan. In 2011, Southern Sudan will vote on whether it wishes to become a separate country. Most experts are confident that the South will vote for separation, and that there is a strong probability that there will be a return to total war between North and South Sudan.

Peace in Darfur cannot be treated separately from peace between North and South Sudan. The next two years will be extremely important for all regions. We hope you will stay informed and find out what you can do to support peace in Sudan.
